Alaska caterer Kirsten Pedersen began her career in the medical field and spent over 12 years in various aspects of medicine from emergency medical work, laboratory, blood donation services to Phase III clinical trials for preapproved FDA drug use. As a vibrant and determined young lady, she was on her way to medical school when a severe motor accident altered her life course and sent her down the world of the fabulous food & event industry.
After attending New England Culinary Institute in Vermont, (vs. the CIA in New York because she took her then 9 month old filly with her to culinary school), Executive Chef, Kirsten Pedersen, began her career locally with the Marx Brothers Café of Anchorage back in 1999. Initially, offering personal chef services in the Mat Su Region at the same time, these evolved into small events that eventually blossomed into full-spectrum catering and event services. She spent the early summer years of the 2000’s, creating and cooking for travellers from all over the world, in the setting of a world class, fly-out fishing lodge. Today, the list of clientele includes the arrival of all three Target stores opened in South Central Alaska, to the debut of Alaska Airlines new ‘Salmon Thirty Salmon’ in fall of 2012, catering for Sarah Palin before and during her political office, past notable figures such as Walter Hickel, Ted Stevens and many others, along with a host of weddings, social and corporate events.
Kirsten was most privileged to grow up between the US and the UK for her first 20 years indulging in travels around Europe and multiple trips back and forth between her family residing on both continents. Her passion for horses began at a young age and continues to this day with Fireweed Farms. As an avid rider in her young years, she rode and competed for her boarding school in Perth, Scotland and continues her love of these magnificent horses today with a modest stable at the base of Hatcher’s Pass in Fishook, Alaska. Today our roots are strong in the Mat Su Region and all of South-Central Alaska with over 80% of our clients originating in the Anchorage area. How strong? We’ve maintained our same regional Mat Su, Wasilla, location since 2000.
